The Coventry Parade 5th August 2018.
Held a week earlier than originally planned due to venue booking constraints, Sunday 5th August 2018 saw the 63rd running of the annual Coventry Parade.
Held on a gloriously sunny day at Coombe Country Park, the Warwickshire Section’s premier event once again attracted a wide variety of machines, dating from 1913 to 1980.
Entrants gathered on the event field in their delineated spaces and formed a very interesting display that the Deputy Lord Mayor, Councillor Linda Bigham, enjoyed a guided tour of, prior to her flagging the machines off in date order, on their scenic road ride.
En-route, entrants stopped at a fabulous manor house, where they were treated to a lunch fit for royalty, boasting a vast array of home-made fayre, our hosts, Kate and Crawford Davidson-Mahon, had put in a mammoth effort for all, including the setting up of several large gazebo’s, with seating, to provide some welcome shade from the blazing sun.
On very full stomachs, riders made their way back to the park venue where a relaxing afternoon followed, with friendly banter amongst like-minded individuals.
At afternoon end, the nineteen awards were presented to the worthy winners - the day was thoroughly enjoyed by all, with several individuals taking the trouble to personally thank the small organising team for our efforts, which was greatly appreciated.
Special thanks to Alan and Debbie Brittain, who had volunteered to do gate “meet and greet” duty first thing in the morning.
