THE KENILWORTH RUN   4TH JUNE 2017

A total of 16 motorcycles set off from the Hatton layby for the 2017 Kenilworth run. The oldest motorcycles were David Payne’s 1920 Triumph Model H and Peter Mahoney’s 1925 Norton Model 18. The newest machine was Ted Robinson’s 1980 Honda CD200 along with five other machines from the 1970’s. Ariel’s were well represented too, with four machines spanning 1948 – 1959.

The route took the riders past Kenilworth castle before heading to Burton Green, Balsall Common and Temple Balsall. By this stage there was some rain falling so some riders stopped to put on waterproofs and others (Simon) apparently got completely soaked so gave up and went home.

Once again a road closure appeared without warning but the diversion route luckily brought us back on course. The route then took us through some lovely Warwickshire lanes via Wootton Wawen, Preston Bagot and Lowsenford.

Those who made it to the Tipperary Inn were given a warm welcome by new owners Giovanni and Angielo.

Our thanks go to Judith Coote and Malcom Griffin for organising the event and David Kendall for the Photos.
