Autumn Run 1st October 2017.

Despite a forecast of rain and high winds, seven bikes and one pillion signed on at the Kenilworth Rugby Club. The usual stalwarts were there: Simon Dudfield (‘28 AJS), Derek Morris (‘47 Ariel NG), Neil Ives (‘55 BSA A10), Andy Smith on his first Autumn Run (‘55 Velo Venom), David Kendall (‘59 Norton ES2), Malcolm and Judith (Honda ‘82 CB250 RSA) and Peter Brown (‘87 Honda VT500). Rikki Richardson had come by car to wave us off, a broken left wrist preventing him from using his Royal Enfield’s clutch.  Thank you Rikki.

The rain stopped as everyone moved off, the route heading south east through Hunningham, Leamington Hastings, Napton and Priors Marston. Then into Northamptonshire through Byfield, Eydon, Culworth, and Aston le Walls, back into Warwickshire through Priors Hardwick, Napton again, Birdingbury and finally Frankton, where Nigel the landlord of the Friendly Inn made us very welcome. It was good to see Ted Robinson waiting for us, having come by car to join Judith and Malcolm for lunch. Having covered a distance of almost 50 miles, most of the riders the rounded the morning off by tucking into a hearty Sunday roast.

Our thanks go to Alan Bailey for organising the run and our hosts, Nigel and Deb, for their hospitality at the Friendly Inn.
