The Autumn Run 2016
On a beautiful but crisp morning for which Autumn Runs are renowned, seventeen riders signed on – no vintage machines and only one girder fork machine, Malcolm and Judith’s stunning ‘34 Triumph model 2/5. It was good to see Rikki Richardson joining us, now 87, on his modern Bullet.
The route headed for Stoneleigh, Birdingbury, Barby, Kislby, as far as Ashby St Ledgers where the road (if you could call it that) was described by one rider as like a moto – cross track. Then heading back through Braunston, Willoughby, Birdingbury and Draycote to the finish at the Friendly Inn at Frankton. Several riders commented how much they enjoyed it as some of the roads were completely new to them.
David Kendall had a short circuit somewhere (on his Norton that is!) and used all but one of his 6 spare fuses by the end of the route. Thanks go to Simon for going back to give him a hand.
Our thanks go to Alan Bailey for organising the event, doing the report and taking the photos, also thanks go to our hosts at the Friendly Inn Nigel and Deb.
