Race Retro 2015

Another year of Race Retro has come and gone. I'm pleased to say that there were a good variety of bikes on the VMCC Stand this year as always.

Among the highlights on display was David Payne's 1912 Pioneer Triumph and and Malcolm Griffiths' Vintage Coventry Eagle. An immaculate low mileage Norton Rotary, provided by Dave Sketchley, and Rob Payne's rare Kawasaki 350 also drew lots of attention.

On the Sunday, we had Steve Bradwick's marvellous Tribsa at the front of house, complete with Dustbin fairing, ridden to and from the Show. (Well done, Steve!)

Along with the bikes, there were "star guest" appearances by people such as World Rally Champion Ari Vatanen and Le Mans Racing Champion David Brabham who was also paying tribute to his dad, the great Sir Jack Brabham, with a trio of his most famous cars on display.

We had lots of interest in the bikes from members of the public and membership forms were also handed out, so hopefully, some of them will be encouraged to join the VMCC.

It was freezing for most of the weekend, and at times, very wet. Hot bacon rolls and coffee at regular intervals kept the cold at bay though (mostly!), and a lot of friendly fraternisation was occurring across the gangway with our friends and neighbours, the Association of Pioneer Motor Cyclists - including buying old back copies of Classic Bike Magazine, as if I need any more!!!

It was a successful Race Retro for us and I would like to thank everyone from the Club who donated one or two bikes for the weekend. Without you, it would not be possible to have such a good Stand. I would also like to thank anyone who donated their time or came to support us during the event.

Roll on next year!

Our thanks go to Dave Kendall and all members who took bikes along to show.
