Chairman’s Social 16th July 2014.

After days of wall to wall sunshine the morning started off fine but deteriorated throughout the day turning rather cloudy by the time we left home at 6.00pm to go to the Blue Lias at Long Itchington for my social evening which is a get together where we put our bikes on display and a buffet is on offer, no route is provided members find their own way there.

As I write this the sun is blazing down again. There was confusion in some members minds as rumours had gone round that the event had been cancelled, it had not they were getting it confused with an event at the same venue that had been cancelled a few weeks earlier so we were a little worried we would have a low turnout.

A slow trickle of bikes started to arrive until we had 33 bikes and my trike on display, a little down on normal but a good turnout non the less. Some riders coming from the Coventry area had a problem getting there due to a bad accident between two cars which closed the road so they had to make a detour.

The bikes on display ranged from Richard Woodcock’s 1913 Rex to Ted Robinson’s 1980 Honda and just about everything in between, a good evening was had by all until it was time to go home and the rain started to fall.

Report and Photos by Harry Wiles.
Our thanks go to Fran Wiles for organising the raffle, Brian and Margaret and the staff at the Blue Lias for their hospitality and a lovely buffet.
