The Kenilworth Run 3rd June 2012
On a very stormy morning five brave riders, Alan Bailey, Glen Hughes, Dave Kendall, Frank Parker and Marty Roberts arrived at the start in a very wet lay-bye at the bottom of Hatton Hill where the new organisers of the event, Dave Sketchley and Rob Payne were waiting to sign them on, for good measure, John Heywood the outgoing organiser popped along to make sure they were coping alright.

Just before the off Martyn Roberts realised his front tyre was a bit soft so decided to make his way to the local garage to pump it up, fearing he had a slow puncture and not relishing the thought of mending it in the pouring rain he decided to make his way home and who can blame him.Bikes and ridrs at the start

When they were sure no one else was going to turn up the remaining four riders set off for a very wet ride. Half way round the route they had to stop to change their route cards over which is when things really went pear shaped, not one route card had survived the rain and they all disintegrated, remembering where the finish was they followed their noses until they got to a road they recognised and made their way to the finish.Front left Rob Payne, front right Dave Sketchley sign on Glen Hughes with Martyn Roberts far left.

It was a shame it turned out so wet with only a few riders turning out as this was the first event Dave and Rob had organised, not deterred they are still keen to have another go next year.Dave Sketchley chats to Frank Parker and Martyn Roberts.

Our thanks go to Dave and Rob for organising the event and a big thank you to the five riders that came out and made organising the event worthwhile.
