Afternoon Tea Run 9 September 2012.
Report and pictures by Alan Bailey
Under perfect weather conditions (what a welcome change) 23 riders signed on at Hatton Layby for the 41 mile run.
An excellent range of machines were present, including 5 vintage machines, David Payne’s 1915 Triumph Junior, Graham Hallard’s 1927 Neracar, Derek Morris’ 1928 Machless, Brenda Hallard’s 1929 AJS and Frank Parker’s 1929 Panther.
The run took us out through Snitterfield, Hampton Lucy, Walton, Pillerton Priors, Kineton, Gaydon, Bishops Itchington, Harbury and Offchurch before winding our way through the leafy roads of north Leamington to the Reading’s house for afternoon tea.
What a scrumptious spread it was: cream teas and mountains of lovely homemade cakes, all served in a beautiful garden by the ladies, Dreeda Reading, Julie Wise and Joan Reeves.
Our thanks go to John Reading for the route and inviting everyone back to his house for tea and cakes. Thanks also to Dreda, Bill and Julie Wise, Joan Reeves and Paul Reading for helping with the tea and cakes.
