Race Retro 2011
The stand had an excellent range of machines: one veteran - Dave Mac’s 1911 Rudge single speed, two vintage – Geoff Parr’s ‘28 Sunbeam Model 5 and Alan Bailey’s ‘28 Ariel Model E, one post vintage – Rob Thomas’ ‘38 Norton Model 50 and the remaining four Post War – Dave Mac’s ‘49 Triumph Grand Prix, Glenn Hughes’ ‘51 Sunbeam S7, Geoff Parr’s ‘56 BSA C12 and Tony Hart’s Triton.
Just before lunch Giacomo Agostini gave a live interview (followed by Johnny Herbert for the F1 enthusiasts), while after lunch, a number of very special machines were started up for everyone to listen to their glorious sounds: amongst them a Moto Guzzi V8, Agostini’s MV Augusta, a Manx Norton, a Gilera 4 and a Norvin.
Our thanks go to Dave Kendall for organizing the stand, Alan Bailey for the report and photos and the members who took bikes along for everyone to see.
