The Chairman’s Social 20 July 2011.
The Chairman’s Social is an event organised my myself, Harry Wiles, Chairman of the Warwickshire Section and is just what it says, a social evening where members and non-members are welcome to come along and enjoy a chin wag while looking at a selection of bikes.

It is held at the Blue Lias public house which is set next to the canal between Stockton and Long Itchington. Bikes are requested to arrive any time after 7.00pm and we lay on a buffet between 7.30 and 8.00pm.

Following an unseasonal spell of cold wet weather the day tuned out to be no better, fortunately by the evening the skies started to brighten up although there were still some rather threatening clouds about.

Brian, the landlord, had cordoned off the car park for the bikes so we could put on a decent display. This is always a popular event in our calendar so I was not surprised, despite the threatening weather, when thirty one members turned up on machines ranging from a 1920’s Raleigh to an 80’s Triumph.

A number of members turned up in cars including John Reading who we were pleased to see as he is recovering from a long illness. We also had a number of non members turn up and all were rewarded with a pleasant evening with just a spot or two of rain, we were lucky because as I write this, the day after, the heavens have opened again.

Our thanks go to Brian, the landlord, his wife and staff for the excellent buffet and of course their hospitality
.
