Warwickshire Section’s Autumn Run 2011
Twenty two riders signed on for the 42 mile run in perfect weather conditions: just warm enough enough, no sunshine and little wind.
Bikes ranged from three vintage (Dave Kendall on his AJS, Derek Morris on his Matchless and Alan Britain on his Sunbeam) through to Don Alexander’s 1980 Moto Morini. Robert Payne’s 1968 Yamaha 350 YR2C attracted a lot of interest, with almost all the riders never having seen one before.
Someone looking like Robert Wisdom arrived on an immaculate Suzuki ‘Kettle’ and we thought it can’t be him – he always rides a Triumph, but sure enough, it was him, having bought it only three weeks earlier.
The riders set off, heading for Long Itchington and Napton, then on to Priors Hardwick, skirting the Boddingtons and on to Aston le Walls, ‘Stop HS2’ territory. Then turning back, along an amazing twisty switchback road past West Farndon, through Byfield, Priors Marston, Napton, Birdingbury and on to the finish at the Friendly Inn at Frankton. A good time was had by all.
Our thanks go to Alan Bailey for organizing the event, taking the photos and doing the report and Nigel and Deb our hosts at the Friendly Inn.
