Warwickshire Sections 50th Anniversary Dinner 24th October 2015.

Thirty seven members and guests met at the Honiley Court Hotel to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the section, our President, Tim Penn, was in attendance with wife Trish. The numbers were down on those originally anticipated by the organisers so at a meeting to finalise the arrangements with the hotels party planner two weeks before the event, due to the numbers being down, the organisers were offered a smaller room than the one originally chosen, despite not having a bar in the room this was accepted and worked out well on the night as it offered a much more intimate atmosphere.
At 7.30pm we all sat down and were welcomed by our Chairman Harry Wiles before tucking in to an excellent three course meal followed by coffee and mints. With the meal over Harry presented Trish with a potted plant before asking the President to say a few words, Tim thanked the section for inviting him and Trish then after a few words proposed a toast to the section. Harry then read out the minutes of the inaugural meeting of the section with a list of the names of those in attendance he then announced that three members who attended that meeting were in the room, the president was then asked to present certificates to the three members, in the order they were named in the minutes they were, Dave McMahon, Stan Bayliss and Martyn Baylis (no relation). Harry then presented all those in attendance with a lapel badge specially made for the occasion this was followed by the cutting of the cake. Dave Mac then thanked the organisers for their hard work he then followed up with some entertaining and funny stories of some of his exploits with the section after which we all settled down to a very pleasant evening where photo albums dating back to the first events of the section were available for people to look at and reminisce.
Twenty one people stayed overnight at the hotel and met up for breakfast in the morning following which we said our goodbyes and went our separate ways after what was an excellent weekend.
Our thanks go to Frank & Helen Parker and Harry Wiles for organising the dinner, David Kendall for producing the certificates, Joanne Parker for decorating the cake, Alan Bailey for the photos, and the staff at the Honiley Court for their hospitality.
